Self-Care and Parenting
Parenting REALLY takes it out of us. We’re meant to be the calm ones so our kids can co-regulate with us – but most of the time we’re overstimulated / tired / touched out / constantly running through a massive mental to-do list or a mix of them all. I know that I struggle to show up with patience and kindness when I'm this knackered.
Winter bugs have knocked me out and today I reflected that I haven't really been looking after myself. I put myself to bed at 3am last night - who even knows why. But I know that it's a sign that I'm a bit overwhelmed and it absolutely affects how I parent. I also end up doing everything half-arsed and feel guilty for not being a 'fun Mum' and more engaged as a partner.
Sooo - I know it's time to be a bit more intentional about looking after myself. I never want to do anything extreme but I do want to hold myself accountable, and nothing keeps you more accountable than posting about it online! I know that when I did this last year it also really helped to have some of my community doing it alongside me so that I wasn't alone - it was reassuring to hear that so many of you were feeling the same.
So again - I've chosen 6 small things to do for the next 60 days to help me feel a little more human again. One of them is de-cluttering because I can absolutely feel that my busy surroundings are also having an impact!
If I miss a day, I miss a day. Nobody’s coming to get me. Life happens. But I’m going to give it a good go.
I’ve made a printable tracker if you want to join me.

If you want the Canva version that's completely customisable (ie you can change all the goals) then click HERE.

Good luck! Keep me in the loop with how you go!!
