I LOVE those little questionnaires that come home from preschool for Mother's Day and Father's Day - someone always accuses me of being 65 and nobody knows what I do for work - standard.

This year I wanted to ask some of the questions that preschool probably wouldn't - and I was NOT disappointed by my kids' answers! How did they come up with an answer so quickly for what Dad would be arrested for?!

It's silly - but it's such a gorgeous little snapshot into exactly how my kids see their Dad right now and I know he'll treasure these.

I'd recommend filming or voice recording your child while you question them, rather than trying to scribble down every answer as they talk. That way you can keep the conversation going and see where their little brain takes you.

Then fill in their answers afterwards, using their exact words. Resist the urge to make them make sense. My 4 year old, when asked "what would dad buy if he had a million dollars?" answered "children" - and I guess that's on paper forever!! That's the innocence and imagination we want to preserve!

Let them draw Dad and write their own name in if they can, then give it to him for Father's Day. It could be a cute one to chuck in a cheap frame for his office.

Hopefully it gets a laugh now, but I reckon it'll be even better when he looks back over it in ten years time.
