Self-care Smoothie Recipe

Everyone is always asking me what I put in that smoothie I am drinking in my stories. It's a bit embarrassing because I never change it -  I'm a creature of habit and it's easy and tasty. I don't need more decisions in the morning - my brain is already doing its best.

I've been trying to look after myself a bit better over the past year or so - prioritising self-care so I can show up better for my kids. Getting more protein in has helped and has been one of the changes I've managed to stick to. Smashing back protein in a smoothie on a morning helps me to stay full for longer and it means I'm not rummaging in the cupboard an hour later. I do the same thing every day and it seems to make the day easier.

I'm sure there's plenty of recipes out there but here's my little one!

Here is what goes in.

- Half a cup of water
- One serve of Matakana Superfoods plant protein plus collagen, chocolate flavour
- Quarter cup of oats
- One serve of Matakana Superfoods creatine
- One serve of Eve Wellness Blood Sugar Babe
- Two teaspoons of plain Metamucil
- Half a teaspoon of cinnamon
- One banana
- A handful of frozen blueberries
- Five frozen cherries
- Half a cup of plain Greek yoghurt
- A teaspoon of honey or a couple of pitted dates (for sweetness)

Blend. Sip. Clean the kitchen for the 3rd time that day already.

Obviously I'm not a nutritionist - I get half my ideas off Instagram like the rest of us. These ingredients are meant to support blood sugar, help with fullness, gut motility and support muscle recovery. Who knows if it's placebo - but it feels like it's working for me!!

I have a discount code for Matakana Superfoods - you can use the code Zazi20 at checkout for 20% off anything on their site. Some of their products they've gifted me, others I top up by myself because I consume them every day!

Happy smoothie making!

You've got this!
