How to Help your Toddlers to Try Foods they don’t like

Exposure + Fun = Success

My friend’s son is just like any other toddler (including mine) – he refuses some foods. But often he’ll eat new food if they’re served by me.

This may be because I’m not his mam. I’m a novelty and kids behave differently for their parents. Plus, August was a great model for these foods. But also because I make new foods fun.

My friend filmed this footage after her son, who hates mandarin, ate a whole mandarin after I put it into a star shape. I also sang a fun, made up song about it during the process.

In the footage, I’m making golden kiwifruit into a cat. It looks nothing like a cat but the kids are into it.

Remember, they will never like new foods if they aren’t given the opportunity to try them regularly. There’s zero pressure to try this - it’s just exposure.
