Is your little one using all of these words to describe their food? Would you say they'd understand all of these words? If the answer is 'no' then it's time you got more descriptive at meal times!

Lots of the feeding experts talk about not attributing any value to food, e.g. Saying a food is 'good' or 'unhealthy' or putting too much emphasis on how 'yummy' it is to tempt them to try something. I totally agree with that - but that shouldn't stop you from describing the food. "This is capsicum, it's red and smooth and crunchy in your teeth! I bet it's juicy and sweet too". Having and understanding of descriptive words for food will help your little one in the future to describe what they do and don't want, e.g. "I don't like the crunchy bits". Auggie had some mince today that he told me was "lumpy" as he spat it out!!
