DIY Wrapping Paper: Embrace the Joy of Messy Play

Most of you know how much I value messy play—it’s essential for kids! Sometimes, you just have to let them go wild, and Christmas is the perfect excuse. Making your own wrapping paper not only provides loads of fun but also adds a lovely, personalized touch to family gifts.

Painting: How We Did It

  1. Materials Used:

  • A big roll of packing paper (ours was from @thewarehousenz).
  • Non-toxic FAS paint and kids' paintbrushes and stamps, also from The Warehouse.
    • Setup:
I taped strips of packing paper down onto our play tray and some on the deck. The paint washes off easily with water, so there’s no risk of damage.

    • The Fun:
I let Auggie go wild with the paint! We ended up with a few lengths of unique, colorful wrapping paper to wrap our gifts.

    Why It’s Worth It

Auggie had a blast, and as a parent, it feels amazing to provide such a fun and educational experience. Messy play is vital for children’s learning and development. At the end, I picked him up, and we both hopped into the shower—we were covered in paint! Don’t be afraid to join in and get messy; find your inner child and enjoy the moment.
