Functional language always wins.

Functional language always wins.

Functional language always wins.

Whether you're teaching words verbally, through sign or using a communication device, children need functional language FIRST before any academic concepts like the alphabet or colours.

It makes sense right - if you were travelling to a foreign country with a new language, you'd first and foremost be learning the words to get your needs met like food, water, toilet, greetings, yes and no, before you learned colours and shapes. This is because they're words you'd need to function in your day.

Check out my post all about functional language in my language highlight.
